Story
Friend-finding is a booming sector of the mobile app market. Dating apps have cleared the way for more and more comfort in establishing intimate social connections.
My prototype explores different ways in which users might make new friends, namely through attending events with friends of friends.
Project Scope & Objectives
Given a user problem, I was tasked with developing a mobile app that would provide a solution.
Problem: Making new friends in today's world is difficult.
Solution: Develop an app that directly and intentionally connects users to potential new friends based on several relatable factors.
Research
User Interview: I conducted extensive user interviews, qualitatively seeking to understand my user's problem. I looked for user pain points, behaviors, mindset, wants and needs.
User Interview: I conducted extensive user interviews, qualitatively seeking to understand my user's problem. I looked for user pain points, behaviors, mindset, wants and needs.
User Persona: Using the information gathered from my user interviews, I developed an archetypal user persona to further guide my process.
User Story: "As a conversational yet reserved young guy, I want to meet new people but I'd like to have some mutual connections with them."
User Scenario: "Will wants to go out tonight, and he's wondering if he can connect with someone new who is also going out."
User Task: "Use the CNCTR app to browse events that you might want to attend and find a connection to meet up with."
Comparative Analysis: I did a deep dive into the "friend-finding" space in the mobile app world to find competitors and conduct SWOT analysis.
User Flows
Low Fidelity Sketches
User Testing: Using paper prototyping I was able to rapidly iterate through designs, features and solutions for my user's problem.
